Continued growth in driving activity
[7 August] We continue to see driving activity well above the baseline, a welcome improvement after many weeks with minimal movement. Advertisers on OOH can be reassured by these audience figures, which show movement well exceeds that from earlier in the year. As the summer holidays progress and people remain within the island of Ireland, driver activity remains high.
On the previous week, driving activity rose a further 7 per cent and now reaches 43% above the average pre-Coronavirus level.
Pedestrian audience volumes in retail and recreation areas continue to grow too, with the weekly average at 80% of the normal audience, uplift of 5% in the last week. Grocery and pharmacy locations have continued to plateau at 89%.
Following another week of miserable weather, footfall in parks and beaches dropped by 2 per cent, however the weekly pattern continues to show fluctuation well above the baseline.
As we reported last week, the workforce is returning to offices across NI. Since the lowest point of lockdown in early April, the footfall in workplace environments has doubled. In the last week, footfall was at 64% of the pre-covid levels, echoing the figures we published previously.
